Frequently asked questions for best massage results.
We've answered a number of questions regarding massage over the years, and here we provide some answers to some of the more common questions.
You have a question we missed? Please feel free to contact us and we'll do our best to answer as quickly as possible.
There’s not too much to prepare, however you should try to arrive early to be able to relax, use the toilet if needed, and enjoy your full treatment. Also best to avoid large meals, caffeine, alcohol or other medications unless necessary to be able to enjoy your treatment fully, without interruption or discomfort.
Pressure applied to tender or sore muscles can lead to some pain, however it is up to you how much pressure you can tolerate. Our therapists are more than happy to cooperate. Any injuries, old or new, should be mentioned in advance so our therapists can best address the issue.
We require all clients to wear underwear, and we provide boxers or disposable underwear on request. We also provide bathrobes to facilitate movement between rooms if necessary. Women are not required to wear tops during their treatment.
Many people choose to get a massage every 3-6 weeks. Some get a massage weekly. Of course, it’s up to you. There is no harm in more frequent massage, and if you are looking to address a specific issue, more frequent massage could be recommended in the short term until things improve.
We use jojoba oil which is most similar to the skin’s natural oil production. Because the product fully absorbs, clients seldom feel the need to shower after their treatment. Of course, this option is up to you.
For the most part, relax and enjoy. You can choose to sleep or chat with the therapist, whatever you’re most comfortable with. If anything doesn’t feel right, please bring it up as soon as possible.
Our treatment times are exactly as promised. We add room turn-around time to the treatment time so, for example, your 60 minute massage is allotted 75 minutes for 'booking time'. Beware of service providers that only provide 45-50 minutes of your ’60 minute’ massage, especially when comparing prices.
During massage, toxins can be released resulting in some feeling of congestion. Laying on your stomach can further increase this effect. If this is something you are concerned about, we can provide additional aromatherapy that can help alleviate the problem. Of course, it’s ok to ask the therapist for a tissue and pause the massage to clear the congestion whenever needed.
Sensitivity to touch can sometimes lead to arousal or erection. Of course we do not encourage this however it can sometimes happen. It’s nothing to be embarrassed about, and the moment should pass.
